Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and challenges

 

Institutional Strengths:

The college is located in the area of Assam Nagaland Border, in a small town known as Barpathar, which is a potential region of archeological interest as it was a part ancient Davaka Kingdom. The Kingdom which flourished in the Doiyang-Dhansiri Valley had its capital at Dubarani, which only 5 K.M. away from Barpathar College.
The College has dedicated experienced, active and enthusiastic teaching staff.
The Non-teaching staff is dutiful, active, computer literate and co-operative.
The college is privileged of having a calm and serene atmosphere, nestling between M.C.Dev L.P. School and Barpathar I.T.I.
The College becomes the epitome of ‘unity amidst diversity’ as students hail from different ethnic groups, including the religious minorities.
The College provides smart classrooms, boy’s hostel, playground and safe drinking water facilities.
The college is blessed with a very active NSS unit.
The IQAC, with help of administration and other stake holders, continuously monitors students’ performance in totality
The Annual college magazine as well as various departmental magazines serves as the outlets for the students to express their creative impulse.
The college canteen is nice and clean.
Parking facilities for employees as well as for the students are provided.
Teachers of various departments actively participate in different program in the locality and are involved in social service.
Good relationship between students-teachers and management.
The college has a responsible and active Alumni Association.
College campus is under CCTV surveillance.
Guardian meetings are held at a regular interval.
The college-Anthem serves as the unending source of inspiration for all.
  Institutional Weakness:

(i) Financial limitations have resulted in the inadequate infrastructure of the college.
(ii) A major portion of students hail from poor social-economic background.
(iii) Less number of digital classrooms stands as the barrier for students.
(iv) High dropout rate of students from multiple reasons, as pursuing professional courses, academically week family background, poverty, early marriage etc.
(v) Lake of various undergraduate degree programme.
(vi) Some posts of teachers are yet to be provincialized.
(vii) The post of the librarian is lying vacant.
(viii) There is no lift facility for Divyangjan students
(ix) Lake of sports materials.
(x) No fruitful measure is taken against the raiding monkeys.


Institutional Opportunity:

(i) The college can start Science Stream in near future.
(ii) The faculty members may be benefited by the research facilities offered by various funding agencies.
(iii) As the College is located in an agriculturally rich area, students may be motivated to begin small scale industry based on agricultural products.
(iv) Workshops along with short term courses may be organized to boost the employability on the students.
(v) Due to the location of the College, certificate course on tourism may be introduced.
(vi) To expose students in the field of culture and sports.
(vii) To increase environmental awareness among the students with special importance given to the rich bio-diversity of Nambor Wild Life Sanctuary which is only 10 k.m. away from the college.
(viii) The college can eliminate the infrastructural inadequacies with financial grants received from RUSA, Govt. of Assam etc.
(ix) As Nambor is the natural habitat of wild elephants and human-elephant conflict is rising alarmingly, a lot should be done towards the peaceful co-existence of both in the forest fringe area.
 
Institutional challenges:
(i) To increase the enrollment of the students as well as to lessen the number of dropout students.
(ii) Accumulation of funds for infrastructural development.
(iii) To encourage the faculty members to increase research and extension activities.
(iv) To introduce a support system for those students who seek to clear competitive exams.
(v) Easy access of resources for marginalized students.
(vi) To build a bridge with other Institutions.
(vii) To increase the involvement of parents and alumni in various activities.
(viii) To help the gen-next in imbibing deep values and strong work culture so that they become the best citizens.
